Fuel prices in the Kansas City area vary by as much as $2.50 per gallon. Our aircraft burn between 7 gallons
per hour (for the 152) and 14 gallons per hour (for the Debonair), resulting in a swing in our hourly cost ranging from $17.00 per hour for the Cessna 152 to $35.00 per hour for the Debonair. And members all
have different ideas about where they want to purchase fuel. So, as of June 1, 2010, here is the new fuel policy. Members will be responsible for paying the dry rate, plus providing fuel receipts for the
required amount of fuel. Buy extra fuel, get a credit for the cost of fuel at the current Air Associates rate. Buy less than required, pay for the extra fuel at the current Air Associates rate. And the
Air Associates rate will be published in the aircraft flight log at the first of each month.
For example, assume that:
the Air Associate's rate for 100LL is $5.25; and
a member flies two hours each in the Cessna
152, the 172, and the Beech Debonair.
Current hourly rates for these three aircraft are (as of June 1, 2010):
Cessna 152 $32 plus 7 gallons
Cessna 172 $40 plus 8 gallons
Debonair $60 plus 12 gallons
(Cessna Cardinal rates have not yet been set)
In this case, the member would owe
$264 and will need to turn in fuel receipts for 54 gallons of fuel.
If the member provides fuel receipts for 60 gallons, that member will receive a credit of $31.50 (6 gallons at $5.25). If the member provides
fuel receipts for 50 gallons, the member will be charged $21 (4 gallons at $5.25).
